Dave Searle

Dave HeadshotDave took his childhood love of all things electronic and mechanical into the classroom and became a teacher of Design Technology. This lasted until the glitzy allure of showbusiness beckoned and he entered the dark murky world of stage technology. Not quite the limelight, more like grimelight! From pushing boxes onto lorries to building glittering carriages fit for pantomime princesses. Dave rose through the ranks until he was running the technical aspects of St Georges Concert Hall and from there he progressed to Production Manager for the UKs largest learning disabled theatre company Mind The Gap. It was here that he oversaw the production of five UK-wide touring shows, built an entire venue inside a twenty foot shipping container, produced an outdoor spectacle that used air-raid sirens as musical instruments and involved setting fire to a car in a major city centre.  All of this at the same time as overseeing the day to day operations of a busy training and rehearsal facility with performance spaces and recording facilities.

A shift of pace to the world of corporate events and a bit more freelance making of ‘bits and bobs’ has seen moves into publishing and more community focused projects. hopefully moving towards the creation of an intergenerational creative hub for makers and tinkerers.
